Storytelling Home and Away
Collaboration Across Continents with FLCA Guatemala
Who We Are
We are a community of Media, Art and Design faculty and students dedicated to learning beyond borders. Through the Durham College Faculty-led Classrooms Abroad, Storytelling: Home and Away project, we engage in both international travel and virtual workshops to gain hands-on global experience and deepen our understanding of the world.

Working Together
Working alongside local Mayan youth, we’ve explored Indigenous rights in Canada, Guatemala, and beyond—strengthening our voices, expanding our worldviews, and growing the cross-cultural skills essential for global citizenship and professional life.
Collaboration
Thanks to these experiences, we get to learn about the natural wonders and expansive culture of Guatemala and it’s people. Through this opportunity, we achieve personal and professional growth and hope to tell the stories of those involved in the best way possible – through media.
